Psalm 20
1 May the LORD answer you when you are in distress;
may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
2 May he send you help from the sanctuary
and grant you support from Zion.
3 May he remember all your sacrifices
and accept your burnt offerings.
4 May he give you the desire of your heart
and make all your plans succeed.
5 We will shout for joy when you are victorious
and will lift up our banners in the name of our God.
May the LORD grant all your requests.
6 Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed;
he answers him from his holy heaven
with the saving power of his right hand.
7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
8 They are brought to their knees and fall,
but we rise up and stand firm.
9 O LORD, save the king!
Answer [a] us when we call!
What does this passage say about our plans and desires and our God?
God has really been teaching me about how He has my best in mind... That my desire should be to honor Him and glorify Him first. I have a couple more verses concerning this, but psalm 20 was one of the passages I read the other day and God really spoke to me through it so I wanted to share it with you too.
Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Matthew 6:33
33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Matthew 6 is an awesome chapter, if you want you should totally go back and check it out! Let me know what you are thinking about all this. I pray that God will be speaking to you, but more importantly that you will be seeking Him first and listening for His voice. Also, if you are still reading through the new testament - read the last 13 chapters of the book of John and the first 5 of Luke. I love you all and I'm of course still missing you!!! Write me and let me know how you are. :)

Blessed Are...
Matthew 5:3-12
3"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called sons of God.
10Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
How do these words of Jesus effect you? Are they comforting? Challenging? Can you relate? Let me know... or rather share. If you've read the first 18 chapters of Matthew then you've read this passage before. Your next challenge. Read the last ten chapters of Matthew and the first eight of John. Readyyy, set, GO. I miss you all very much. Write me a let me know if there is something you want me to write about.... Happy Summer! :)

his eye is on the sparrow.
You know that song? (I know Phil knows this song) Remember it from sister act 2? (love that movie) It's from these verses in the Bible.
Luke 12:6-7
"Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows."
This is your reminder that God's eyes are on you. He knows you down to the hairs on you head. I don't know where you are at in your faith or your world now a few weeks past school, but what I do know is that you are not forgotten by God. And the Bible says you are worth so much more than many sparrows. So go listen to that song... and remember. God's got you in his hand. Lean into that promise. I challenge you to remember that each day this week.

And your second challenge, if you chose to accept, is to read the whole new testament with me and Marcela this summer. This week: go at your own pace, but get through the first 18 chapters of Matthew. Feel free to message me with questions or comment on this blog.
