Trust

Psalm 20

1 May the LORD answer you when you are in distress;
may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
2 May he send you help from the sanctuary
and grant you support from Zion.
3 May he remember all your sacrifices
and accept your burnt offerings.
4 May he give you the desire of your heart
and make all your plans succeed.
5 We will shout for joy when you are victorious
and will lift up our banners in the name of our God.
May the LORD grant all your requests.
6 Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed;
he answers him from his holy heaven
with the saving power of his right hand.
7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
8 They are brought to their knees and fall,
but we rise up and stand firm.
9 O LORD, save the king!
Answer [a] us when we call!

What does this passage say about our plans and desires and our God?

God has really been teaching me about how He has my best in mind... That my desire should be to honor Him and glorify Him first. I have a couple more verses concerning this, but psalm 20 was one of the passages I read the other day and God really spoke to me through it so I wanted to share it with you too.

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.

Matthew 6:33

33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Matthew 6 is an awesome chapter, if you want you should totally go back and check it out! Let me know what you are thinking about all this. I pray that God will be speaking to you, but more importantly that you will be seeking Him first and listening for His voice. Also, if you are still reading through the new testament - read the last 13 chapters of the book of John and the first 5 of Luke. I love you all and I'm of course still missing you!!! Write me and let me know how you are. :)

  1. I second that, its tough for me to accept that God knows me better than I know myself, but recently God has been scolding me for not giving him my heart first and knowing that his plans for my life are perfect and my own stink. For me it differs slightly form Abby cause I totally feel what she is saying but my current issue is more specifically with whether or not I am loving Jesus first and desiring to have an intimate relationship with him in my daily. and then in that knowing he has my best in mind...

    Cool stuff, miss you ladies lots! and I can't wait to see you all in the fall!

  2. Trust, thats a hard thing to do as you Ms. Abby know, but going off of what Kyle said why not trust the one person that knows me better than i know myself. Its like i'm in constant battle to give Jesus my broken heart and let him fix it. I should trust him like I trust you Abby but i should trust him more. I'm working on it though.

    p.s. I miss you too Kyle can't wait to see you either!! and Abby I will write you to you in your fb inbox.

  3. For the first passage from psalm 20 i think it tells me that God only wants the best from us is always working in my best interest! "he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed".
    I particularly love this line: "Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
    but we trust in the name of the LORD our God".
    I think this line tells us that the strength and love that God has cannot be compared or measured to anything, that God is the most reliable person that we have! Not even the most well built chariot can be measured to him.
